The Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and the Government of the Republic of Benin have concluded an agreement to donate assistance of the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA) to promote the economic development of Benin and reduce poverty in the country. The Benin intends to use a portion of resources from the MCC funds (as defined in the Agreement) eligible for payments under the Projects. MCA-Benin has started (October 6, 2006) Phase II of its Program: The Implementation Phase. As noted above, MCA-Benin is expected to buy services, work, property, and so forth - in various fields, including: Access to Land, Access Finance, Access to Justice and Market Access (Port of Cotonou), but also in other sectors such as Hotel, Communications and Monitoring & Evaluation.
