Emnambithi / Ladysmith Municipality has analysed the various DSM options available and has identified four key areas where it will focus in the next few years in order to reduce electricity demand and energy consumption. These include: smart metering/load management, geyser blankets, street lighting and solar water heaters. The Municipality wish to identify suitable ESCO's, approved by Eskom DSM Division, to assist in this regard. It is foreseen that the four technologies mentioned above will offer the best solution to Emnambithi / Ladysmith Municipality in terms of demand and energy management as well as general utility management. The Council seeks expressions of interest from companies who are able to provide the following options: Smart metering / Load management: Smart metering technology that includes the ability to read the remotely (AMR), remote disconnect / reconnect, loss management and importantly load management through the ability to remotely vary the size of a customer's circuit breaker. Other functionality would be specific load switching. Geyser blankets: A geyser blanket project that will include community involvement through manufacture and installation of the blankets. Street lighting: Streetlight Efficiency Project to reduce energy consumptions of the town's streetlights. Solar water Heaters: Solar water heating options for the Emnambithi / Ladysmith Municipality.
