Anadarko Mozambique Area 1, Lda. (AMA1) has started the implementation of a Resettlement Plan for communities on the Afungi Peninsula, Palma District, Cabo Delgado Province, Mozambique, in preparation for the construction of an LNG facility and associated port infrastructure. Preliminary assessments of community water and health highlight significant health, employment and general livelihood issues arising from the poor use of water and limited availability of potable water. Issues include malaria, bilharzia and various diarrhoeas, loss of work and school days and a contribution to the morbidity and mortality rate in the communities of the Afungi Peninsula. In this context, AMA1 invites interested entities to submit Expression of Interest (EoI) for provision of services to build a platform for strategic investment in community water sources, water systems and their management that will prove both viable and sustainable for Afungi communities: Groundwater survey: this service requires preliminary studies of the groundwater in the Afungi Peninsula by identifying and analyzing existing data, identifying specific sites for hydrogeological assessment to provide a general broad-based understanding of the Afungi groundwater systems and the future needs to provide adequate safe water to communities living around the LNG Project DUAT.Assess current supplies: based on a review of existing information and field visits, verify and update data on the current status of the water supplies in each community, including wells, boreholes and other water sources, to identify at a minimum, their use (drinking and other uses), supply capacity, infrastructure conservation and operational status and management. Where necessary also carry out water quality assessments. This work to be carried in close collaboration with other AMA1 implementing partners.Assess future demand: based on population figures and current supplies Design future community projects: the different communities near the AMA1 projects will have different demands and potential supplies. Detailed project designs need to be drawn up and consulted with communities. The EoI shall provide detailed information about the competences and relevant experience of the company or entity. Suitably experienced companies or entities may express interest as a consortium, in which case the Expression of Interest should include clear definition of roles and responsibilities of consortium members. The participation of national companies or entities is encouraged.
