About this development
The Zonnebloem coal reserve will be mined by opencast mining methods (Truck and Shovel method). The No. 1 and 2 seams will be mined concurrently. Concurrent rehabilitation will take place. The estimated life of the mine is 29 years. Infrastructure associated with the proposed mining operation, conveyors, washing plant, office, discard dumps, haul roads, etc, will be constructed on site. The proposed mining operation is situated on farms Gemsbokfontein 411 JS, Patattafontein 412 JS, Zonnebloem 396 JS and Panplaats 395 JS, Middelburg, Mpumalanga.
