About this development
This project will result in 25 wind turbines of 2.3 MW each being built in the Coega IDZ in the Eastern Cape, part of which will be completed in time to power the entire North End multi-purpose stadium during next year’s Fifa World Cup. The Coega project will be the first of its scale on the African continent. It will also be the first wind turbine farm built and managed by Electrawinds outside of Europe. The site for the wind farm is within the CDC’s industrial development zone (IDZ), on the slopes of a ridge on the inland side of the N2 highway. Project value : R1.2 billion. The exact co-ordinates are currently not available however the approximate area of location is Latitude -33.7878853 Longitude 25.6322189.
