Project overview
About this development
Construction of a new reverse osmosis desalination plant (40,000 m³/day capacity) as well as renovations and rehabilitation of 5 existing public desalination plants on Red Sea coastal sites, including central Port Sudan industrial water utility zones in Port Sudan Town, Red Sea State, Sudan. Project cost is estimated at US$30 million. Scope of works could include: detailed rehabilitation designs for the five existing plants (adapting modern RO membranes, energy-efficient pumps, and automation), feasibility, engineering, and ESIA for the new greenfield RO plant with associated infrastructure (intake/outfall pipes, power supply consisting of solar/diesel hybrids). Integration with Arbaat wellfields and distribution networks (15 km transmission mains, 56 km pipes) and sustainability measures like waste brine management and climate-resilient features. The exact GPS coordinates are not known and the marker has been placed at the approximate central marker for the Port Sudan desalination cluster at Kayan Desalination Plant, 19.623306, 37.2173462
