About this development
The Target operations are located at the northern extent of the Free State Goldfields, some 20 km north of Welkom, in the Free State. The Brownfields expansion will be done in two phases. Phase one will see a new shaft sunk to about 2200m, where it would be connected to the existing one. Phase two would cost a further R1,1bn and see the second shaft sunk to a depth of 2500m. Estimated project value: R6.5 billion.
