About this development
Upgrading of the old Summerstrand Hotel, Site 1 to accommodate more students, construction of 104 units on Site 2 and construction of 39 units on Site 3 on erf 2399, Summerstrand, Gqeberha, Eastern Cape. The scope of work includes the construction of several separate residential complexes, providing between 3000 and 3500 additional student beds. Sites 1, 2 & 3 will be grouped into one property to become 3.25ha in total. Of this 3.25ha, 72% of the property is already developed (old hotel and parking lots), only 0.908ha, which represents Site 3, is considered undeveloped but is zoned Residential 3 which allows for student accommodation. There is a tarred existing access road that leads to Site 1, current student accommodation from Marine Drive. This road will be closed and only used as emergency access. A new access road at the centre of the site along Marine Drive will be constructed, about 130m north of the existing entrance, along Marine Drive. The GPS co-ordinates 33°59'37.10"S 25°40'34.34"E.
