About this development

The Sheba's Ridge PGM project envisages an openpit mine about 3 km long, 1 km wide and 400m deep. The ore will be trucked using 250-trolley-assisted trucks, which will deliver most of their power from an overhead electricity line. The ore will be delivered to a concentrator plant consisting of three separate streams, each capable or treating 500 000t/m. The concentrate will be smelted in two 35MVA six-in-line furnaces. Sheba's Ridge is a platinium reef resource contain 1,4 million tons, nickel, 19 million ounces of three PRGMs and 0,5 million tons of copper. The project will cost an estimated $707 million.
