About this development

Sasol is to build a new plant in SA for the production of methyl isobutyl ketone, a solvent used for making tyres and pharmaceuticals among other things. The plant is to be located in Sasolburg, in the Free State. The new plant would have a capacity of 30000 tons a year and will be technically more advanced than the existing plant, which was built 10 years ago. The new plant will double MIBK output at Sasolburg to a capacity of almost 60000 tons per year and will make Sasol the second largest producer in the world.
