The project involves a proposed 250k tons per month opencast coal mine with a 27 year life-of-mine, including coal processing facilities and associated surface infrastructure on the farm Roodekoppies 167IR in the Siyabuswa District in Mpumalanga. The proposed Canyon Springs Coal Mine will comprise of opencast coal mining. The construction phase of the mine consists of excavation of the box-cuts for access to the opencast pits and the construction of the surface infrastructure on-site. The mineable coal resources identified have been targeted for opencast pit development.
