Project Golf - Coal-Fired Power Station, Free State

Eskom is investigating the option to construct a new 5 400MW coal-fired power station and associated infrastructure, in the Northern Free State, in the vicinity of Sasolburg. The likely associated infrastructure includes a raw and wastewater treatment works, a wastewater treatment works, a demineralization plant, access roads, rail sliding, water supply pipelines, a coal stockyard and an ash disposal facility (emergency and permanent). The extent of the site required for such a power station and associated infrastructure is approximately 2 500ha. Project Golf.
