Nkomati Nickel Mine Expansion Project, Mpumalanga. Expansion of current mechanized operations through new open pit and shaft, together with a new concentrator. Breakdown of main contracts: The expansion involves exploiting the larger adjacent Uitkomst deposit through a 200 000 t/m openpit and a 100 000 t/m underground operation. It will also require construction of a new concentrator plant, tailings dam and related infrastructure. The Phase 2 large-scale expansion will extend the life of the mine by 18 years, to 2027. Project value: R3.2 billion.
