National Route 5 Section 4

Rehabilitation of National Route 5, Section 4 between Vaalpens Spruit (km 34.0) and Winburg (km 66.0), in the Free State. The scope of works includes the horizontal realignment of three sections, the construction of six new 19-km-long climbing lanes and the upgrade of five intersections with exclusive right-turning lanes. The project also includes the construction of two new major bridges – the Tom Schutte bridge and the Du Plooyspruit bridge, as well as the widening of concrete culverts.
