In Sierra Leone, West African Minerals (WAFM) holds the exclusive right to explore for minerals, and particularly iron ore, over five licences totalling approximately 687km². The licenses are held by wholly-owned subsidiaries of Ferrous Africa Limited, in which WAFM holds a 100%. The most prospective of these, the 06/11 licence (the ‘Madina’ licence) located about 70km to the north of London Mining’s Marampa deposit, showed a strongly magnetic unit extending north and south to the licence boundaries, at a depth of 70 metres below the cover, and is believed to be underlain by an enriched oxide cap ranging in thickness from 15 to 60 metres returning assay grades of +30% Fe
