About this development
Development of the Duvha Water Pipeline. Eskom Holdings proposes to augment the Komati Water Scheme for operating the Duvha and Matla Power stations. Water is proposed to be transferred from the Vaal River Eastern Sub-System via a dedicated pipeline between the Rietfontein Weir north of Tweedraai Dam to Duvha Power Station, situated southeast of Witbank, with an off-take to the Matla Power Station. A distribution line is additionally proposed to supply electricity to the pump station at the Rietfontein Weir. The KWSAP project comprises: * An extension of the existing Rietfontein Weir pumping station 7.1km steel pipeline between Rietfontein Weir and Matla off take. * 49.2km steel pipeline from Matla off take to Duvha raw water reservoir. * 6.6km steel pipeline from Matla off take to Matla raw water reservoir. * Tie in to Duvha raw water reservoir. * Tie in to Matla raw water reservoir. * Integration into VRESAP Control Centre at Grootdraai. * An upgrading of Rietfontein Weir pumping station substation. Project value: R800 million.
