About this development

Ixia Coal is proposing the development of an open cast coal mine referred to as the Imvula Project near Kriel in the Mpumalanga Province. The Imvula Project site is located in the vicinity of Trichardt, Kriel and Kinross and will be located on the farms Rietfontein 100 IS portions 2, 12 and Reitfontein 101 portions 3 & 4.The proposed open pit of the project will be approximately 200Ha and has estimated mineable reserves of 21.72 million tonnes and 1.05 million tonnes for the No. 4 coal seam and No. 5 coal seam respectively. The coal will be mined using truck and shovel mining methods and will be crushed and stockpiled on site.
