About this development
Development of an underground coal mine on portions 5, 7, 10, 11, the remaining extents of portions 1 and 2 of the farm De Wittekrans 218S, the farms Groblershoop 192 IS, adjacent to the N11 national road, near Hendrina in Mpumalanga. Opencast mining is proposed initially at a rate of 100,000 tonnes per month over a five year period. Underground development is proposed to commence in the second production year with access from a highwall. Estimated project value: Over R500 million. De Wittekrans mine’s underground infrastructure will consist of a shaft and an adit.
