Expansion project and the combination of the approved Forzando North and South Coal Mines. The project is located on the farms Bankpan 225 IS and Weltevreden 193 IS, in the Bethal Magisterial District, Mpumalanga Province. The closest towns are Bethal and Witbank, 25km to the south and about 55km to the northwest respectively. Forzando is an underground mining operation, exploiting the No 4 Lower seam. Mining currently occurs in 4 sections and the total coal reserve area of 1741ha and has been developed in a phased manner. The Run of Mine coal is being beneficiated into two products, export coal and metallurgical coal, for local use. The estimated coal reserves are approximately 28 070 million tons, which translates into 19.6 million tons of potential ROM at 70% extraction.
