Project overview
About this development
Construction of additional wastewater treatment facilities at the existing Tutuka Power Station, approximately 22km north east of Standerton in Mpumalanga. The treatment facilities will consist of two components; namely a reject concentrator plant and a groundwater wastewater treatment works (WWTW). the reject concentrator plant would concentrate reject produced by an existing reverse osmosis water treatment process on site. The groundwater WWTW would treat polluted groundwater, which would be abstracted from strategic boreholes adjacent to the power stations ash dump, and from other nearby sources of groundwater pollution. Water from the groundwater WWTW would be processed further in the reject concentrator plant.
