765KV Transmission Powerline Hydra-Perseus & Beta-Perseus

Construction of a 765kV Transmission Powerline from Beta-Perseus near Dealesville in the Free State to Hydra-Perseus near De Aar in the Northern Cape. R657 million has been spent on strengthening the North of Hydra part of the system, which are the lines coming into the major Hydra Substation at De Aar. R1,1 billion is now being spent on the South of Hydra part of the system and a further R463 million on the Southern Cape Grid, i.e. the lines that make up the supply network in the Cape. The project will include the extension of the Perseus 400kV transmission substation near Dealsville to construct a new 765kV high voltage yard (50ha). The construction of 2 x 765kV Transmission Powerlines (13km) between Perseus and Beta Substations, both near Dealsville. The construction of 1 x 765kV Transmission Powerline (296km) between Perseus substation near Dealsville and Hydra substation near De Aar.
