Construction of a childrens' home for the Klipvlakte Development of Erf 1, Worcester, in the Western Cape. Erf 1, appropriately named “Klipvlakte” and extending a total of 380ha, is situated east of the town of Worcester and is bordered by Zweletemba low-cost settlement to the north, Hexpark Settlement to the west, agri-industrial activities (Rainbow Chicken Farm) to the east and agricultural activities to the south. The R60, which connects Worcester to the rest of Breede Valley Municipality (Robertson, Ashton and Montague), delineates the northern border of Erf 1. Prominent on the property is the Hex River, flowing in a north-south direction from the Matroosberg Mountain catchment area into the Bree River. The proposed development of the site will include the following buildings, institutions and infrastructure: Housing; educational facilities; places of worship (approximately 16); sports field (approximately 4.2ha); two local nodes (approximately 0.7ha each) to the north of the property which includes a community hall, library and postal office each; a civic and business node located close to the center of the development which includes (total area covering approximately 9.3ha); public open space areas; storm water channel south of the R60 (northern border of the property); storm water retention facilities (approximately 7); bulk electricity infrastructure; bulk water and waste water infrastructure and roads (Class 2, 3, 4 and 5).
