The government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has received a credit from the International Development Association (IDA) toward the financing of the Second Urban Local Government Development Program (ULGDP II). The overall objective of ULGDP II is to enhance the institutional performance of participating Urban Local Governments in developing and sustaining urban infrastructure and services. The Ministry of Urban Development and Housing is looking at 30 new additional cities in total, split up as follows : in South Nations Nationalities Peoples Regional State -SNNPRS (19 Cities), Tigray National Regional State (4 Cities), Somali National Regional State (6 Cities) and Afar National Regional State (1 city) in Ethiopia to help ease the serious shortage of housing.
