KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Sipho Hlomuka handed over the contractor for the construction of Main Road P113 in Ward 13, Ubuhlebezwe Local Municipality.
Main Road P113 is a 34.04 kilometres long unpaved road located in the south east of lxopo, that connects lnhlamvini and Highflats in the Ubuhlebezwe Local Municipality.
The upgrade of road P113 to blacktop standard will assist the local communities by providing a safe and all-weather access road to the communities of Nhlamvini and Highflats under the eMakhuzeni Traditional Council led by Inkosi uDlamini.
The construction of this road will also contribute immensely towards the economic uplift of the region as it will create more than 100 job opportunities during its construction phase and also benefit local emerging contractor.
MEC Hlomuka was joined by Harry Gwala District Municipality mayor, Cllr. Zamokuhle Nxumalo, Ubuhlebezwe Local Municipality mayor, Cllr. Elizabeth Ngubo, Local House of Traditional Leadership, Inkosi uZulu and Inkosi uDlamini, local ward councillors and senior officials.
MEC Hlomuka concluded his day by engaging the communities of Ward 09 and 13 at Thuleshe Community Hall, Ubuhlebezwe Local Municipality.
