About this development
Development of the second coal operation in Mozambique known as, the Zambeze project. The Zambeze project is situated adjacent to the miner’s Benga coal project, where stage-one production is expected to start in early 2011. The projects shared a similar geological structure. The mine site lies near Tete, the provincial capital. It has direct access to the Zambezi River. Major infrastructure including power, water, rail and sealed roads will be developed to support the mine. The total value of the project is estimated to be $2 billion.
