About this development
Construction of the associated infrastructure for the Yatta dam on Thika River near Kithimani town, Machakos, Yatta sub-county, Kenya. In addition to the dam the associated proposed works include the construction of a water treatment plant complete with intake, backwash facilities and staff housing; a treated water rising main and distribution lines of various diameters; 2 main reservoirs each with 1 200m³ storage capacity and medium sized storage tanks varying in size from 100 to 250m³; a canal upgrade including construction of suitable off-take arrangements along the canal at agreed locations and establishment of flow monitoring points and livestock water points. The sanitation development includes wastewater stabilization ponds for Matuu and Kithimani Townships, sewers comprising 31km trunks/primary and 14.3km secondary sewers, administration buildings and laboratory.
