About this development
The proposed dam is located 37km to the south east of Nyahururu Town and across the Pesi River in Kenya and targets to impound 16 000 000m³ of water. This project will consist of 45m high earthfill dam with clay core embankment and associated works, intake tower of 3 000m capacity, clear water transmission steel/HDPE pipeline of diameters ranging from 1 000mm to 200mm and total length of 160km and other storage tanks of total capacity of 4 000m³. The proposed project is to comprise the following components : A dam, domestic and irrigation water supply infrastructures and hydropower generation. The target population and the irrigation coverage will be based on the actual storage available for the dam.
