About this development
Mintails (Pty) Ltd intends to establish a large tailings facility, or Super Dump, known as the West Rand Gold Initiative (WRGI), on portions 2, 3, 4 and 5 of the farm Witfontein, located in the Randfontein Local Municipality, Gauteng. The purpose of the project will be to relocate existing high impact slimes dams from various mines on the West Rand to one central, consolidated site. The site 1200 hectares and will dispose of an estimated 800 million tonnes of gold tailings from various mines over a period of 22 to 25 years.
