About this development
The Wassa gold mine is located in the south-western region of Ghana approximately 35 km east of Bogoso / Prestea. The mining operations consist of a number of open pits, feeding the processing plant which consists of a traditional Carbon-In-Leach (CIL) system. The project aims to develop an underground mine at Wassa that will operate in conjunction with the existing openpit mine. Total preproduction incremental capital costs for the underground mine are estimated at $41 million, including $8million in contingency capital.
