About this development
Construction of the 75 500m² office component for the Virginia Beach Development in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, situated on a 25 hectare site on which the existing Virginia Airport is located. The potential GLA of the site is 306 870m², and will also consist of the following uses: Mixed use and Retail - 63 800m²; Leisure - 8 250m²; Hotel - 17 820m²; Culture and Education - 3 000m² and Residential - 138 500m². The site has direct access off the M4 to and from Durban, with its own off-ramp, which may require upgrading in order to cope with the increased traffic load. Virginia Beach Development will act as a development catalyst and major development node, connecting Durban city and Umhlanga as a continuous city strip. The promenade from Durban, currently terminating at Blue lagoon, is to be extended past Virginia to connect to Umhlanga promenade, creating a 21km continuous pedestrian connection between the two “cities”.
