Project overview
About this development
The airport at Upington, in the Northern Cape, has one of the longest runways in the southern hemisphere and is capable of accommodating most aircrafts. At the moment the airport serves as a convenient entry point for tourists on their way to game farms in the area or to other points of interest such as the Augrabies Falls. The plan is to form a public-private partnership in a special purpose vehicle that would run the airport as a transport cargo hub. The hub could deal with commodities such as citrus, grapes, fish and meat.
