About this development
This project is for the upgrading of Kikusya - Ipinda - Matema Road (34.6 km) to bitumen standard. This is for section 2, from KM 4+500 (Tenende) to KM 39+100 (Matema) in Tanzania. The works consist of upgrading of 34.6 km of the existing gravel road to paved standard. The work also includes construction of access roads, minor realignments, two bridges, 14 box culverts, pipe culverts and other ancillary works. The estimated quantities for major works are: Clearing, grubbing and topsoil removal: 56.25 Ha; common excavation to spoil or stockpile: 225,500 m3; natural gravel class G45 quality material: 59,063 m3; upper improved sub-grade layer of G15 quality material: 151,875 m3; fill G3 or above quality material: 468,750 m3; stabilised natural gravel for base course class C1: 59,063 m3; MC-30 cutback bitumen: 427,500 liters; double surface dressing: 356,250 m2; diameter 900 mm concrete pipe culverts: 1,800 m; diameter 1,200 mm concrete pipe culverts: 270 m; concrete box culvert (1 x 4 x 2.5 m): 5 nos; concrete box culvert (3 x 4 x 2.5 m); concrete box culvert (2 x 4 x 2.5m): 3 nos; concrete box culvert (2 x 4 x 2.0m): 1 no; concrete box culvert (2 x 5 x 2.5 m): 1 no; concrete box culvert (4 x 5 x 3.0 m): 1 no; concrete box culvert (4 x 3 x 3.0 m): 1 no; bridges: 2 nos; and stone pitching for ditch lining: 25,000 m2.
