Upgrade of Centlivres Building, UCT Upper Campus

Alterations and upgrading of the existing 7 000m² half-century old Centlivres Building, comprising five levels and situated between Residence Road and University Avenue on the southern end of University of Cape Town's Upper Campus in the Western Cape. The scope of work may include: Demolition of a light-weight structure within the courtyard of the existing building and casting of a suspended concrete slab over the courtyard. Removing a concrete mezzanine slab in the workshop and casting a new slab at lower level. Alterations to partitioning over all five levels of the building. Construction of a raked floor lecture theatre within an existing studio space. Enlargement of the lift shaft to replace the current old lift with a modern unit. Upgrading and replacement of mechanical, electrical and wet services throughout the building. Minor external works.
