About this development
Upgrading of Divisional Road 1098 from gravel to tar from km 5.47 to km 8.79 and rehabilitation from km 8.79 to km 14.25 in the Western Cape. The value of the project is R 121 489 927,76. The project is located just north of the N1, between Kraaifontein in the west and Paarl in the east. The section of DR1098 under consideration can be divided into two sub-sections namely Section 1 : km 5,47 to km 8,79 consisting of a gravel surface, also better known as “Protea” road which starts at the intersection with Hoopenburg road and ends at MR174 (R304). Section 2 : km 8.79 to km 14.24 consisting of a surfaced road and is better known as “Waarburgh” road which starts at MR174 and ends at the intersection with Lucullus Street in Kraaifontein. A bus stop is to be constructed between km 6.80 and km 6.88 on the right-hand side and between km 6.94 and km 6.96 on the left hand side. Kerbing and a walkway has to be provided at the bus stop. The GPS marker has been placed at the Hoopenburg/ Waarburgh road intersection 33°48'58.9"S 18°47'18.2"E
