Project overview

About this development

Installation of two new 11kV electricity cables from uMhlathuze Electricity’s Carina substation, which is situated on the port side of the Mzingazi Canal near the steel bridge. The existing electrical cables feeding the pump station from Meerensee will be removed. The electricity capacity which will then become available will be used for proposed domestic developments in Meerensee. The two proposed 300 mm² 3-core AL PILC MV cables will be installed in separate servitudes. As these cables will be main feeder cables, two are needed to assure electricity supply should one be damaged. The cables will be installed underground to a depth of approximately 1 to 1.5 meters.
