About this development
Construction of a new R1-billion, 600 000 t/y chrome-fines pelletising and sintering plant for Merafe Resources at its Rustenburg operation in the West Province. The project will be called Tswelopele. Tswelopele will allow for the additional use of upper group two ore in the ferrochrome production process. Merafe Resources is the world's biggest ferrochrome producer, with a total managed capacity of 1,98 million tons of ferrochrome production a year. Estimated project value: R1 billion.
