About this development
Construction of a connecting road - which may involve digging two tunnels through the Magaliesberg - between the Pretoria city centre and its northern suburbs, in Gauteng. By connecting Dr Swanepoel Road (to the north of the mountain) with Frates Road (in the Moot), traffic pressure will be relieved on the four crossings over the mountain. The route could possibly be developed as a toll road. Each tunnel will cost about R250 million, which will include limited improvements to the feeder roads.
