About this development
Upgrade of the Tshwane Strengthening Project Phase 1, for Eskom. The upgrade will consist of the following: The upgrading of the Verwoerdburg substation and construction of 2 x 400kV Apollo - Verwoerdburg loop in and out power lines from the existing Apollo-Pluto 400kV transmission powerline. Construction of a 400kV transmission power line form Kwagga substation to Phoebus substation. The establishment of Phoebus substation and extension of Kwagga substation including 2 x 400kV loop-in and out lines from Phoebus substation into Apollo-Dinaledi transmission power lines. The proposed Apollo-Verwoerdburg project starts at the Verwoerdburg substation and follows a south-west direction towards the existing Apollo-Pluto lines. The project is located on farms Witkoppies 392 JR and Doornkloof 391 JR which are approximately 16km south-east of Pretoria (Tshwane) in Gauteng. The proposed Kwagga-Phoebus project spans the entire 30km, following the existing Apollo-Dinaledi power line for about 4km.
