About this development
The Tivani mine will be an opencast mine producing iron ore and Ilmenite concentrate. The life of the mine is estimated to be approximately 23 years. The mine which is planned on the farm Mohlaba's Location 567 Lt with infrastructure on the farms Keulen 669 LT and Berlyn 670 LT will mine the minerals from three opencast pits (referred to as the West Pit, Central Pit and East Pit). The mine is situated 20km southeast of the town Tzaneen in the Greater Tzaneen Local Municipal area, Mopani district, Limpopo. The development may also include a smelting facility. An amount of $450 million will be required to start mining and a further $1.2 billion for the construction of additional beneficiation processes.
