About this development
The Thembelani Shaft 2 Project is a replacement project that will gain access to deeper Merensky reserves at a rate of 100 000 t/m replacing the 120 000 oz/y of platinum, by 2015. The project will be an extension of the existing declines at Paardekraal's one shaft. Both the vertical shafts will be blindsunk, and lined. The planned final shaft depth is approximately 1,200 m below surface. GPS Co-ordinates : 25°36'59"S 27°18'11"E. Project Value: R 2.6 billion.
