About this development
The Tharisa mine is situated in the Bushveld Complex in the North West Province, which contains more than 70% of the world's known platinum-group metal resources and 75% of the world's known chrome resources. The mine's total chrome resource of about 900 million tons of contained chrome makes it the largest single chrome mineral resource deposit in the world. The expansion project will process about 3.6 million tons a year of run-of-mine ore. Estimated project value : R1 billion.
