About this development
The proposed Thambana dam is on Thambana River in Manyatta constituency, Embu County in Kenya. It will be designed to serve parts of Embu County namely; Manyatta constituency, parts of Gachoka in Mbeere South Constituency and parts of Siakago area in Mbeere North Constituency. The proposed project will include a dam of 12 million cubic metres storage capacity, domestic water supply infrastructure for 100,000 people, irrigation infrastructure for 6,000 hectares and mini hydropower generation. Feasibility studies have not been done but the proposal is strongly supported by topographical map of Thambana River catchment.
