Sugar Mill Expansion Project, Mozambique

Expansion of Tongaat-Hulett Group's (THG) sugar milling and cane growing activities at its Xinavane and Mafambisse sugar mills in Mozambique. Part of Sugar Mill Expansion Project. The mill infrastructure will be refurbished and/or upgraded, with new equipment being installed to increase the design crush rate from 150 t/h to 380 t/h, achieving globally competitive economies of scale. The expansion of the mills capacity forms part of a total R1.2 billion expansion project that includes the planting of additional irrigated cane and installation of a 20 MW turbo-alternator that will be coupled to the new boiler for co-generation purposes. Total capital cost of the project is $25 million.
