The Styldrift Merensky, Phase 1, Project entails a twin vertical shaft system: the main shaft, reaching a depth of 740 m, and the services shaft, reaching 705 m. Full production of Phase 1 is expected to be achieved by 2017, which will increase the Bafokeng Rasimone platinum mine’s production to 430 000 t/m. Concentrator projects have been initiated to support the Styldrift ramp-up and additional UG2 mining volumes from south shaft post-2020, with regards to milling capacity and tailings storage capacity. These include the Maseve MF2 (160 ktpm / 200 ktpm) upgrade and the Maseve and BRPM tailings storage facility (TSF) upgrades. Project value: R11.39 billion. GPS: lat: -25.3983515; long: 27.1100092.
