Soccer City Upgrade / FNB Stadium

Upgrade of Soccer City in Johannesburg, in Gauteng. The Soccer City (also known as the FNB stadium) upgrade contract comprises partially demolishing the former FNB stadium at Nasrec and completely revamping it, as well as providing all associated facilities. The new Soccer City stadium will have 94 700 seats, which will be covered by a roof leaving the soccer pitch itself open to the sunlight. Once completed, the stadium will have three tiers of seating, 230 private boxes, two VIP suites, a large media section with 2 451 seats and eight TV presentation studious, underground parking for 4 055 cars, 32 turnstiles and 71 concession kiosks as well as a soccer museum and a 300 seater restaurant and will resemble an african pot. Original Project value : R1.5 billion. Estimated overrun on budget changing value to R2.317 billion.
