Sishen Expansion Project (SEP), Northern Cape

Kumba Iron Order is conducting studies into increased production at Sishen mine by between 5 million tons a year to 10 million tons a year. It is a brownfields project and will apply jig technology to extract 13 million tons a year additional saleable ore from 21 million tons a year of feed stock, about 8 million tons a year material previously accounted for as waste and 13 million tons a year from new run-of-mine material (of which 4,9 million tons of material mined was capitalized during the six months to June 30. 2007).
