Construction of supporting infrastructure components for affordable housing and urban upgrading on multiple sites: Namuwongo area (southeast Kampala informal settlement near industrial zone and wetlands), Naalya area (northeast Kampala suburb, approx. 12.5 km from city center, with access via Kampala/Jinja Highway or Northern Bypass e.g., Naalya Pride developments), Namugongo and Kakungulu areas (east/northeast Kampala suburbs), and related urban zones for Simbamanyo mixed-use in Kampala, Uganda. Project cost varies, forms part of the of the $9,000,000 NHCC loan facility. Scope of works could include: Provision of basic community-level infrastructure such as access roads and paved/murram surfaces, stormwater drainage and open/covered drains to manage flooding in low-lying zones, sanitation improvements (e.g., public toilets, pit latrines rehabilitation, or satellite/sewerage systems), water supply connections (e.g., standpipes or grid integration), basic utilities (electricity distribution, street lighting where applicable), environmental enhancements including: waste management access, pedestrian paths and site-specific amenities such as paved parking, driveways, sewerage treatment in gated estates like Naalya Phase II. Community facilities in mixed-use contexts. Emphasis on slum upgrading to improve living conditions, reduce health risks from poor drainage/sanitation, and support sustainable urban integration for low-income residents.
