Project overview
About this development
Construction of a Green Hydrogen Plant in Secunda, Mpumalanga. Sasol with Linde, Enertrag and Hydregen, will bid to secure support under Germany’s H2Global platform pursuing a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) opportunity, known as the HyShiFT programme to produce sustainable aviation fuel, known as E-Kerosene. Each partner contributes within the renewable energy sector: Enertrag produces renewable power from wind and solar resources, Linde produces green hydrogen and Sasol converts these two inputs into green aviation fuel through its FT reactor. This program would seek to displace 1% of the grey hydrogen currently used at Secunda with green hydrogen, which would be produced using a 200MW electrolyser and 450MW of renewable electricity to be produced in Mpumalanga. The exact location is not known at this stage and the GPS marker has been placed at the Sasol Secunda main gate at 26°31'46.8"S 29°10'28.4"E
