About this development
Development of phase 1 of the Saldanha 2 Gas to Power facility on the remainder of the Farm Driehoeksfontein Number 176, Malmesbury District, in the Saldanha Bay Municipality in the Western Cape. This facility will be constructed in up to three phases. Each phase will consist of 1000MW combined cycled gas turbines, utilizing a dry cooling system or hybrid cooling. Each phase will require approximately 10ha and will be located adjacent to each other. Associated infrastructure will form part of phase 1 and will likely include a pipeline corridor for water intake as well as a gas pipeline from a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal which is a proposal of the Western Cape Government and for which a location is still to be determined. Transmission lines will be routed from Saldanha 2 sites to a substation located in the general area.
