About this development
Construction and operation of a metal coating complex on portion 7 of erf 50, Cato Ridge, KwaZulu-Natal for the purpose of processing coiled rolls of sheet steel into coated, painted and pressed sheets primarily for the roofing industry. The proposed plant will comprise the following main processes: 1) Pickling, Trimming and Oiling - cleaning of the coiled steel sheets to remove scale (rust or iron oxide); 2) Cold Rolling - cold rolling of metal sheets to required thicknesses; 3) Zinc Coating - zinc coating of sheets in a non-oxidising furnace (NOF); 4) Aluminium-Zinc Coating - coating of the sheets with an aluminium-Zinc coating at a high temperature; and 5) Paint Coating - roller painting the Aluminum-Zinc coated steel sheets and drying the painted sheet through a series of heating and curing ovens to dry.
